Day 3 - All Day Training

Manitoba Energy Justice Coalition (MEJC) is launching a leadership training program for people interested in learning more about community-organizing for climate justice.

The first weekend long retreat will feature a community-organizer training co-hosted by MEJC and Organize BC.

This is the perfect training for someone interested in becoming more involved in the campaign against pipelines or who wants to build solutions to climate change in their communities. MEJC's goal is to recruit & train 20-30 organizers to scale up our campaigns. We are hoping you want to be one of them. Priority will go to people committed to working with MEJC.

We will have a formal process to RSVP soon. We will have up to 10 spots available for allied water protectors and Indigenous Sovereignty activists who are working on fossil fuels who would value this training.

Training Team:

- Anna McClean from Organize BC

- Joseph Wasylycia-Leis from MEJC, Leadnow, Solidarity WPG

- Alex Paterson from MEJC

About Organize BC:

Organize BC began in 2013 out of a desire to help people be better organizers across the province. Collaboration, across projects, organizations and regions, has been one of Organize BC's core values since the beginning. We pool the progressive movement’s most valuable resources, our people's skills and knowledge, to deliver ‘engagement organizing’ trainings to people across BC.

In its first two years, Organize BC has developed organizing capacity in hundreds of organizers at dozens of training events, from small evening workshops to full weekend trainings, in communities from Burns Lake to Vancouver to Courtenay. We train organizers from national and provincial scale NGOs, and from small scrappy community groups. We train high school students and retirees, environmentalists and health campaigners, volunteers and professional organizers.

As we grow our programs, we are maintaining a focus on our core values of capacity building and collaboration. We are expanding our pool of trainers, increasing the number of groups we work with, and broadening our geographic reach.
